Proposal Overview
Careful preparation of proposals - from project design through proposal submission - is paramount to success in getting funded. To make the process run smoothly, we suggest that principal investigators (PIs) refer to the following flowchart for guidance.

Identify a Grant Program |
Identify at least 8 months prior to proposed start date |

Notify OSPA |
Send the RFP to your Research Project Specialist ASAP but no later than one week before the due date. |

Prepare a draft Budget |
Send to your RPS for review (preferably one week before the due date). |

|
Prepare Proposal Documents |
Write proposal narrative. Obtain required documents for subawards, matching funds, vendor quotes, etc. |

Obtain Signatures on Proposal/Award Checklist |
Signatures required: PI(s), Fiscal Officer, Department Chair, Dean (or equiv.). |

Forward Checklist & Proposal to OSPA |
One working day before deadline: Provide your RPS with a hard copy and electronic version of your proposal, along with proposal/award checklist. |

Proposal Submission |
OSPA Submits Proposal (unless agency allows for PI submission) |
